Toy Group - Your Perfect Puppy?

I have found my perfect puppy, dog breed the Coton De Tulear, who are from the dog group Toy, Coton’s suit my energy levels and lifestyle. While I am of course quite biased toward the Toy Group, as I love everything about the Coton De Tulear characteristics, I understand only too well that a puppy choice is really personal and needs to suit an individual’s own energy and lifestyle.

Toy dogs as the name suggests are small and often called lap dogs. Some dogs may have been placed into this group simply because of their size, but the Toy Group has dogs who are mostly great companions, have friendly personalities and love attention.

They don’t usually need a large amount of exercise, which can be great if your struggle with exercise as your lifestyle is too hectic, due to health reasons or simply don’t like to do it. There can be various energy levels within this group and while they are mostly lower energy some breeds do still enjoy a good walk if they are keeping their owner company.

The Kennel Club website has a library of information with specific detail on toy dog breeds & breeders registered as assured breeders. Assured breeders have to go through thorough home visits and paperwork checks to ensure that a dogs needs are met so it can be a great place to start your search. As an approved assured breeder with the Kennel Club myself I understand the strict requirements, which is a great thing to try to reduce puppy farms and large scale breeders who don’t always put the needs of their dogs first.

Toy Breeds include:

Affenpinscher

Australian Silky Terrier

Bichon Frise

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

A dog from the Toy Group as I mentioned above is first and foremost a companion dog which doesn’t flourish in a kennel situation and needs the attention of their owner. If you don’t have space or time in your life to live closely alongside a Toy Group dog then I would suggest to look at other dog groups. I will share more information about another dog group next week to help you find your perfect puppy.

As an assured breeder of Coton De Tulear I do get asked for more information about my puppies and why I love them so much. If you would like to know more about Cotons then have a look a look at this (link to the page with Coton Fluffy puppy information)
