Getting Back On Track

I am passionate about everything to do with dogs especially if I can help new and potential owners to choose and raise happy, healthy, well balanced dogs. I like to share my real puppy and dog owner experience, especially if it can reassure people that we all can have moments of doubt if we are doing the best by our dogs.

In our society of trying to do everything perfectly all of the time, this can put enormous pressure on people especially when it comes to choosing and raising a puppy. Most people who buy a puppy don’t get the advice and support that they need to choose the best puppy for them, as they don’t know where they can get honest advice from in the first place.

Once the puppy comes home new owners don’t always know where to start and what to do if things don’t go as smoothly as they believe it should compared to the information on the TV or online. This is why I decided to do something about this and started writing courses to help new and potential puppy owners. I have started sharing information to try to take things back to basics to support anyone who might need it and help them find their ideal puppy then raise it successfully for life.

Real life however can sometimes get in the way and all the best intentions don’t always get realised. I certainly understand this especially over the last 2 months as I have faced redundancy, a father who is unwell and a difficult IVF journey. Something had to give and I feel it was my focus on raising my canine companions.

I was of course dealing with their basic needs along with lots of hugs, but I was only able to devote bursts of energy to training my new puppies or the Coton Fluffies as I call them. While my puppies suit my lifestyle and they are developing nicely, I know I could do more especially preparing them for the show ring training, general more advanced training as they have the ability to do so much more.

So why am I sharing this, because we will all have times like this when we know we could do more especially when it comes to your canine companions, so what should you do. Draw a line under it, take a deep breath and start as you would like to go on. It is never too late to make improvements to your routine and start a fresh with little changes, keep going with the little improvements in a steady consistent way then you will still achieve the long term results you are looking for with your puppy.

It could take a little longer to get your puppy into the swing of things but it is never too late. As I start my full time role as the puppy owner specialist I know that I can also now focus on anything that the puppies haven’t had to opportunity to learn to the best of their ability which is an exciting realisation for me.
