So Why Is Dog Energy So Important

Over quite a few of my blogs I have shared that dog energy is so important if you want to make sure you choose the right puppy for your own energy level and lifestyle. I am asked, what I mean by energy and lifestyle, is lifestyle about fashion and the accessories you decide to put in your home – no not exactly.

When I refer to lifestyle I simply mean how you choose to live your life, which includes your routine. How many hours you are working a day either at home or outside the home, if you have children, a partner, other pets or a stay home parent. It also means how healthy you are, if you have regular exercise, cannot exercise due to health issues or if you prefer a steady pace of life.

Energy level is a term to cover your daily activity level throughout the day and during your routine. You may be a naturally active person who likes to be out and about, possibly you are very routine based which includes your set amount of exercise at a gym 3 times a week and then you want to go home to chill out and do very little. Perhaps you are home based due to ill health but enjoy getting out of the house even for a short time possibly with help and support

I truly believe that there is a dog or dogs for almost any person’s lifestyle and the energy they have themselves throughout the day. By being really honest with yourself about the way that you do live your life, it can help you find a perfect match when it comes to a potential puppy, dog, dogs or elderly dog that could add value to your lifestyle. Once you truly know what you have to offer a dog as part of your lifestyle and your energy level, it is then time to consider the energy levels of dogs you would potentially like to consider as a pet.

So what do you need to consider when we talk about dog energy? Dog energy level is a little like human energy levels, even though we may have bursts of energy when we can be really active, generally through the day it doesn’t mean we are a high energy person. The same can be said for dogs, some dogs who you think may be high energy level have bursts of energy a few times a day but enjoy nothing more than curly up in front of the fire the rest of the day.

Using the information about dog groups will help you to identify the general energy level of that group before you start to look too closely at specific dog breeds. Keep your eye out for my next blog where I will start to look at the dog groups and identify the various energy levels within the groups.
